Make this language offline — Offline button in the header

  • On-device only

Compression and conversion run in the browser — pixels never leave your phone or computer.

  • No photo upload

During processing the file body does not go over the network. Save mobile data: you are not shipping megabytes to someone else’s server.

  • No ads

We do not show ads and we do not accept your files. We physically never see your photos.

  • We don’t store photos

We do not save images on a server or in the cloud. Open, process, download.

How it works

Your photo stays in browser memory and is not sent to our server during compression. Opening the site still downloads the page as usual. For visit stats we may use Google Analytics: page, device type, button clicks — not file names or pixels. Language choice may be remembered in the browser. Analytics cookies are Google’s; you can limit them in browser settings. You can also press Offline in the header to cache this language’s tool pages and engines on your device; your files are still not uploaded.

PixLocal compresses images on your computer or phone. Handy for websites, marketplaces, email, and messengers: a smaller file means faster uploads.

Unlike many online tools, we never accept your photos on a server. It works like editing a shot in your phone gallery or in Paint: the whole process stays inside your browser. You can batch files and download a ZIP.

By default the long edge is capped at 2560 px — so iPhone photos actually get smaller. Quality, side limit, and KB target can be changed manually.

FAQ

Does my photo really not go over the network during compression?

The file contents — yes, they stay put: compression runs on your device, like editing in your gallery or Paint. Opening the site still downloads the page as usual. In DevTools → Network during processing, you will not see your image body uploaded to our server.

How is this different from TinyPNG and iLoveIMG?

Typical online compressors upload photos to their servers. PixLocal processes the file only in your browser — contents never go to a server or the cloud. There is no cloud lossless like TinyPNG: for icons, CLI optimizers are stronger.

Which formats are supported?

JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF (via a local heic-to/libheif decoder). You can save the result as JPG, WebP, or PNG.

Why can HEIC become larger after converting to JPG?

HEIC is usually more compact than JPEG. We automatically lower quality and resolution so the JPG becomes lighter than the original. If needed, reduce Max side or quality manually.

How do I save to Photos on iPhone?

Tap Share and choose Save Image in the system menu. On iOS, Download usually puts the file in Files.

What do you use to compress, and is it legal?

JPG/PNG/WebP — the browser’s built-in Canvas; HEIC — open-source heic-to (libheif, LGPL-3.0); ZIP — jszip (MIT). Details are in the licenses section on GitHub / LICENSES.md.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the page, drop files, then download or share the result.

Why are all PixLocal tools safe?

We use your browser instead of remote servers. Photo and PDF tools run on your device’s CPU. We physically cannot receive your files.

Can I use PixLocal without internet?

Yes — press Offline in the header and wait for the checklist. Only the current language is saved; your files still never upload.
